what we are dealing with...

here's an idea....

I'd say 75% of these are unmarked. There's a mix of commercially released tapes as well.

and a token cat.

It might be hard to see from this photo, but I have four of those Todd Oldham Dorm Room (for Target) drawer sets, with two drawers each. I also have another case of cassettes not in this picture... which is super 80's!
I kind of feel like I'm the last generation to really have mix tapes like this, minus the people that make them for nostalgia purposes. I don't think I'm the only one who would wait hours and hours for that certain song to come on the radio so I could tape it. Actually, it would be fun to take submissions of other people's mix tapes.. but for now, I'm going to be posting my own. These days you can just Shazam a song with your iPhone or look up the playlist online and then buy the mp3. Or see the title scroll across your radio in the car... Easy!

Taping songs was definitely more fun! but also frustrating at the same time. For example, there was a song I taped from Rev105 on the "Moonlight Meditations" program that I loved. It was very pretty and angelic. The DJ said the name of the artist but I could never really understand who they were talking about; it was someone i was not familiar with.

Since I just happened to grab one of my cassettes the other day before I thought it might be fun to blog about.. I happened to find this mystery song. I did use Shazam and found out it was called "Tenth Month" by Velour 100. So a 15 year mystery solved! There are advantages to technology.
